How long can a drone battery last? Drone battery lifespan and influencing factors.
"How long can a drone battery last? Factors affecting drone battery lifespan and endurance can be divided into two aspects: endurance for single flight and overall lifespan.
-
Endurance for single flight:
(1) For recreational slow-speed aerial photography drones, the discharge current demand is not very high, and most batteries can achieve a flight time of 20 to 30 minutes. However, high-quality and high-performance batteries can fly for over 40 minutes.
However, some drones may only fly for about 10 minutes due to cost and price reasons, which is enough for recreational use.
(2) For racing and high-speed drones, these drones pursue "violent" flying, which requires high discharge current, lightweight, and the competition typically lasts for no more than 5 minutes, so these drones can fly for about 7 minutes. Of course, for normal flying, a flight time of 10 to 20 minutes is achievable.
(3) Payload drones:
These drones usually have larger batteries and are mainly used in agricultural plant protection drones. According to years of on-site validation with customers, the battery for a certain model (with a fixed motor power and payload) can typically last for 20 to 30 minutes.
"When customers store their drones and drone batteries in a warehouse:
- Battery lifespan:
The lifespan of a drone battery is difficult to determine, as it depends on the drone's usage and user behavior. Generally, the battery lifespan for toy drones and low-speed aerial photography drones is about 300 cycles, while racing drones have an average lifespan of about 150 cycles. The lifespan for payload drones is also around 300 cycles on average."
