Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell multi-rotor UAV (UAV wingspan 6m takeoff weight 700kg)
Hyundai Motor Group exhibited a hydrogen fuel cell multi-rotor drone called "Project N" at the 2022 Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Technology Day held at Hyundai Motor Studio in Goyang, northwest of Seoul. At the conference, Hyundai also said it had successfully flown a hydrogen fuel cell fixed-wing drone with a 6-meter wingspan and a maximum takeoff weight of 700 kg last year.

Hyundai understands the AAM concept as a combination of Hyundai's original Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Regional Air Mobility (RAM), and is therefore working on both eVTOL and fixed-wing electric aircraft at the same time.
In the area of eVTOL, Hyundai established an Urban Air Mobility (UAM) division in 2019, bringing in Dr. Jae Won Shin, a Korean-American and former NASA deputy administrator, as its director, and in February 2021 brought in Ben Diachun, former president of Scaled Composite, an innovative subsidiary of Northrop Grumman (founded by legendary aerospace designer Burt Rutan), and former president of Opener, an eVTOL company invested by Google founder Larry Page, as CTO. Composite, founded by legendary aerospace designer Burt Rutan, and Ben Diachun, former president of Opener, an eVTOL company invested by Google founder Larry Page, as CTO, unveiled its first eVTOL design at CES in January 2020: the S-A1 eVTOL, and unveiled a UAM-integrated In November 2021, Hyundai established a wholly-owned subsidiary called Supernal in Washington, D.C., to develop the AAM model, apply for airworthiness certification and build an operational ecosystem, with plans to put the eVTOL into operation at UAM in 2028. Supernal is currently developing the SA-1 four-seat eVTOL, designed for a range of 75 km, and has already selected Los Angeles and Miami as launch markets.
